1882

One hundred and forty-four years

Founded on the 16th of January 1882 by a company of sixty-four gentlemen, residents of Northern Tasmania. The first House Dinner was held in August 1883.

1882The Launceston Club is founded at 59 Brisbane Street.
1925The Club acquires “Nyllavert” on Tamar Street.
1926“Breakfast served in the old Club House, lunch in the new.”
2001The first lady members are admitted.
2003The Lady Franklin Club amalgamates with the Launceston Club.

Admission by proposal

Candidates are proposed and seconded by existing members, and considered by the Membership Committee. The Club offers eight categories to suit different circumstances of residence and stage of life.
